Yesterday I was called to serve as the minister of Pathways, a Unitarian Universalist Church in Southlake, Texas, by a unanimous vote of the congregation. I am exhilarated and exhausted. I am humbled and honored. The candidating week was an extraordinary experience, full of learning about myself and the congregation and the culture of north Texas. I am left twenty-four hours later contemplating a statement by Jack Mendelsohn I find myself returning to again and again:
The future of the liberal church is almost totally dependent of two factors: great congregations (whether large or small) and effective, dedicated ministers. The strangest feature of their relationship is that they create one another. (from ???????? ????? ????????Why I am a Unitarian Universalist)
Good congregations and good ministers really do create each other. I can’t wait to begin co-creating with Pathways. I have been blessed.
